CentrEast Regional Extension Center - Workforce Services

Workforce

The Regional Community Health Institute of Texas A&M Health Science Center has partnered with Texas State University at San Marcos, TX to perform an in depth assessment for the Texas Workforce Commission on health information workforce needs in Texas. Preliminary data indicates that a large number of EHR trainers will be needed as more providers adopt EHRs. Computer specialists may also require training in healthcare-specific technological rules and regulations. CentrEast Regional Extension Center will focus on partnerships with community colleges in the region to address some of these needs. The regional extension center will also sponsor internship and externship opportunities for students and faculties. The goal of these collaborations will be to provide a trained workforce to successfully assist providers in adoption and implementation of EHR systems.
